Travel raises many questions - like this.Over the years I've travelled a lot to the US - and have encountered many fascinating things and a bright and generous people. But there is one thing that no-one has ever explained to me. It may be cultural, or economic, or a reflection of collective taste...but it is a mystery nonetheless: why do all American hotels have beige bathrooms?
